BECOMING A STAR PAGEANTS DIRECTOR


STAR Directors have the opportunity to INSPIRE others to reach for their own goals and dreams and to LEAD others on their path to ACHIEVE them. This is your chance to create your own home-based business and spend your time as a mentor to others! We are a credible-based organization that prides itself on good moral character for not only our directors but our staff and contestants, as well.


In STAR, we have three kinds of directorship: State, Regional, and National.


A State Director is the director who oversees a state pageant or delegation of state contestants. She/He is responsible for mentoring and managing her/his S.T.A.R Search Presenters, holding S.T.A.R. Searches, or recruiting events of her/his own, and holding the state pageant. She/He is required to attend the national pageant and is responsible for helping her/his contestants to prepare for the national pageant. She/He works under the direction of a Regional or National Director.


A Regional Director oversees three or more states as a state director or may oversee State Directors for some or all of her/his states or additional states beyond the three she/he directs. A Regional Director can only be appointed to this position after being a State Director for more than one year and at the National or International Director’s discretion.


A National Director oversees a national pageant for a country in which she/he does business in, lives in, or has duel citizenship.  She/He is responsible for either holding a national pageant or overseeing a national delegation of contestants that are required to compete at the upcoming International pageant.  She/He is required to attend the International pageant and works under the discretion of the International Director.

How much does it cost to become a director? 
A State Director's fee is $299 per pageant season.

A Regional Director's fee is $499 per pageant season.

A National Director's fee is $799 per pageant season.
The fees are renewable each year 30 days prior to the international pageant. 


Do I have to have previous pageant directorship experience to be a director? 
No. STAR has a Director's Training Program that you can follow. As you grow and learn, you have the ability to advance to the next level of directorship, as it comes available or as your upper level director sees fit or feels you are ready for the next level. 


Can I be a state director in a state in which I do not live? 
Yes. However, we feel it is best to direct in a state in which you live. But when that state is not available, we will work with you to find a state in which you may have contacts or may be close to geographically. 


Can anyone be a director? 

Yes, but according to these guidelines:
• State Directors must be at least 20 years of age. 
• Regional/National Directors must be at least 25 years of age. 

• All directors are subject to a state and national back ground check at their own expense and must 

   be of good moral character.



What do I do to bring in money as a director?
Contestants will pay fees to participate in a pageant. You will be able to charge admission, as well as, and may even sell concessions and merchandise (as a venue permits) to earn extra money at your pageant. The profit made after your pageant expenses are paid in full is yours to keep.



What expenses am I responsible for? 
As an Independent Director for STAR, you are responsible for paying for your venue, prizes, and other related expenses for a pageant. You can pay for these items from the fees and other monies you collect by holding your pageant. You are responsible for your own taxes-income and expenses.



How much money does it take to start as a director? 
STAR does not require that you start with any out-of-pocket expenses. However, depending on what you want to do, you may consider it to get a head start on getting your directorship up and running more quickly. Your state or national director may consider partnering with you to split expenses and profit. Please contact her/him for more information.



How much time do I have to put into my directorship? 
Just like with any business, to be successful you have to take it seriously. Most love this business because they can do most of their recruiting and manage their business on line through social media sites, email, and websites. Other women and men who work outside of the home can also be directors as they can work their business on their own time schedule and can utilize the contacts they already have with people they work with or network with on a daily basis.



How much paperwork is involved in being a director? 
98% of all paperwork is actually done on line. Contestant applications and instructions are completed on the website or Facebook pages as files. This helps to keep our costs down. Most people have a Facebook page or email. Electronic contact is the best form of communication in this technologically driven world.  If you can operate a computer, you will have all the tools you'll need right at your fingertips. 



Do I have to go somewhere for training? 
As the need arises, we will have training opportunities throughout the year so that we may help all of our directors be the best they can be. We will occasionally have director conference calls to update information and changes within our organization. There is also a private social media page that a lot of training materials are on for you to view at your convenience, once approved as a director.



What do I need to do to become a director? 
Fill out the application on our website and submit it. Someone will contact you shortly to speak with you about becoming a director and answer your questions! Upon speaking with you, a Director will determine your eligibility. Anyone applying for a directorship should remember that it takes self-motivation and dedication to the directorship and must take this step very seriously.  We want to ensure that all of our contestants have a great experience and that their director will be with them every step of the way!
